I eyed the note I had discovered. It was written in neat handwriting, like it was in mock imitation of my own handwriting. The odd thing was that the note wasn't written by me. In fact, it was written TO me. Jill? My eyes widened slightly and flashed to the bottom of the note, confirming the thought that popped into my head. My heart stopped. The note was signed by Jill. My Jill wrote this for me. Why would she write me something and just leave it here..? I closed my eyes and thought for a moment.
Did she leave this here for me to find, or did she leave it here on accident?
I was debating whether or not I wanted to read it. Jill knew that I

"I want to see the woman I love," I said, looking around.
Gray and Cliff seemed surprised by this seemingly sudden declaration. Claire just seemed excited.
"You're ready to face her?" Claire asked hopefully.
"Not at all," I declared proudly. Claire was now just as confused as the others. "I've been putting off seeing her again because I'm not ready," I admitted, "And I really need to get my thoughts in order before I can actually speak to her, especially after what happened. I just really want to see her. I want to see how she spends her Winter festival without me there."
Cliff looked concerned as he slowly said what the others were proba

Gray, Cliff, and I were hanging out with each other during the day of the Winter Thanksgiving festival. We were all gathered around the table in their room at the inn. I had brought some of the curry Claire and I had made. We'd cooked up a storm and still hadn't produced the perfect curry. Now, there was just way too much curry to go around. On the bright side, I was getting to eat three square meals daily without stealing. It was all curry, but I had no room to complain. Especially considering that the alternative was to not eat at all.
"If I didn't know any better," Gray remarked bitterly, looking at all of the curry, "I'd say you and Clai

"I told them that I needed to figure it out on my own, but it's really because I thought you'd be more helpful," I admitted, "What do you think I should do?"
Claire rubbed the muzzle of a cow. The new calf was the newest addition to the new farmer's ranch. Claire seemed to have taken quite a liking to this new responsibility. She had been lovingly stroking the creature the whole time I explained my situation to her. "Sounds like your mystery girl's in love with you," Claire laughed as the calf nibbled on a strand of her hair.
Why did I come to Claire for help, again? I raised a skeptical eyebrow, "You were listening to me, right?"

I paced the floor at the inn. I needed to think, but there was a distinct pain in my chest, and the better half of me was telling myself that I shouldn't be alone right now. Not after what happened between Jill and me. It felt like I might try to do something that I'd regret later, and I needed my friends to make sure I didn't go through with anything rash.
Gray and Cliff watched me pace the floor. They had been patient with me when I showed up at the inn the night before, acting like a zombie. I didn't say anything, I just collapsed onto one of the beds. I still hadn't said anything. I just paced the floor, thinking. I'd occasionally mutter

I wrapped an arm around my Jill's waist, placing my other hand over her mouth so she couldn't scream. I started leading her to my previous hiding place when I realized that spot only worked if there was one person. Jill was struggling in my arms and I realized she probably didn't realize it was me. How could she not know it's me? She was just calling for me! I had to keep from laughing and whispered into her ear, "You, my lovely Jill, would make a terrible thief." I kept leaning over her shoulder and slid the hand over her mouth down to her waist. I hugged her to myself. I'm so happy you're here. This means you really must care about me.

They weren't supposed to see me quite yet... I growled with frustration. And Elvis, of all people, was the one that spotted me... I hopped into a secret hole, quickly covering the entrance. I could hear the angry shouts as I traveled through the tunnel. When I resurfaced, I wasn't much better off. Vesta was near, behind a tree where I couldn't see her until after I had given my position away.
"You-" she started.
"Chick beam! Fire!" I exclaimed, taking off.
Vesta had closed her eyes, expecting my usual white light to flash in her face, but it didn't. No chick beam. Just a distraction. Celia had seen me and was headed over.
Screw this... Pl

"I'm to waltz into the Inner Inn at 12 midnight. With Love, Phantom Skye..." Cliff read the note aloud. He was looking between me and the letter with the most pathetic look in his eyes I had seen him make in a long time. "Skye," he said, his voice sounding very disappointed in me, "Please tell me that you're not going to..."
His words trailed off in my mind. I'm the great phantom Skye! How could I get caught leaving one of my notes?! By my best friend, nonetheless. I could just slip away, like usual, if it was someone else, but not when it's one of my friends... I had forgotten that my friend would be staying here today. What's he doing up a

Say what I'm thinking... I wandered along the path to the valley, still thinking about Claire's advice. Does that mean I shouldn't plan out what I'm going to say ahead of time..? She said something about no sugar-coating my words, and to only say what I really mean... So, I'm allowed to tell Jill that she's the most beautiful maiden in the world, because she is, right? What if that's too much? Maybe I should just stick with her being very beautiful... No, because I tell every maiden that she's beautiful... This is going to be harder than I thought. Plus, Jill seemed pretty dead-set on catching me. She's probably realized how often I break int

"A date with Claire?!" Gray cried.
"It wasn't a date," I corrected, "We just hung out late at night on the hill."
"That's what most people usually do for dates around here!" Gray exclaimed, "What happened to Jill?!"
"IT WAS NOT A DATE," I said firmly, "I didn't even like it! I mean... I didn't hate the conversation, it was just really weird. I was very uncomfortable the whole time. Mostly because I kept thinking of Jill..."
"Just, let me get this straight," Gray said, holding his hands up, trying to get me to slow down, "You and Claire talked on top of Mother's Hill for hours. What did you talk about?!"
"That's not the point," I said, "I
